It's been 6 months since I made my last post. I can't believe it! God pulled me away to invest in several other endeavors.
I've had alot going on, including moving to a new home two weeks ago.
BUT, I promised some friends that I would make a post about things to do in the NWA area with your kids for FREE or at very minimal price during these fun summer months.
One of my favorite things to do is go to the movies. We don't get to go often, because taking 7 people to the movies costs an arm and a leg! During the summer starting yesterday the Malco Theatre has $2 movies at 10am every Wednesday. All 3 theatres in our area, Rogers, Springdale, and Fayetteville are doing it and they all have different movies each week.
Home Depot is sponsoring a kids camp each 1st Saturday of the month. You will recieve a FREE apron and create a project to take home. The ages are 5-12 from 9am to noon.
Lowe's does a similar project, but they are all cartoon character projects, which I am not really down with, but if you are, go for it.
The Springdale Aquatic Center is open!!!! The hours are 12-6:45pm Monday-Saturday and Sunday 1:00-6:45pm. The door price is even better $2 for ages 4 and under. $4 for ages 5 and above. 3 different areas for all different ages. Lots of fun, but gets a bit croweded at times. BUT you can rent it for parties if you want more privacy.
BOTH public libraries are nice. I have only taken my girls to summer programs at Fayetteville, but we now live really close to Springdale and will try it out.
Listings for SD library: Toddler TimeWednesdays 9:30 and 11am, June 6, 13, 20, 27. Pre-school Time is Tuesdays and Wednesday 9:30, 11, and 2pm and that's ages 3-5 June 5/6, 12/13, 19/20, and 26/27. Each day is a different theme. School Age, ages 6-9 is Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the exact same dates and times as the pre-schoolers, but in a different room. The same schedule will be available in July as well.
Day or Afternoon trips:
Gentry Wildlife Safari Drive-thru Zoo, Bentonville Splashpad, Crystal Bridges (maybe an adult day away from the kids, but there are walking pathes outside to take the kiddos on), Fun City Pizza, and Lokomotion. Terra Studios is open daily from 10-5 and you get a FREE glass bird. A trip to Martin Greer's candy shop near Gateway, AR. It's a short drive to sample homemade candy.
Also, right now in town for the next 2 weeks there are 3 berry farms that are open for the picking. Blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are all good frozen and used all year long. My kids love to do this.
Vacation Bible School starts next week at Cross Church. Click on that link to pre-register. Super FREE Fun!
A picnic at the park can be the best FUN and biggest memories for your kids. Right now my girls and I are making flash cards. Abigial will be learning her shapes and colors. Ava will be learning her alphabet and numbers. Addy is working on her reading for Kindergarten and Aydan is going to work on learning the books of the bible. AND a day doesn't go by the we don't sing on the karaoke or have a dance off in the family room. Cooking and baking with your kids is one of the best gifts and things that you can every teach them.
So get creative and have a fun summer!
I am sure that there are several other things that I can't think of right off the bat that I will post down the line, but this is just to get you started!
